    SEMCA places a strong emphasis on in-person learning with master craftsmen who have spent years working in the industry. The principles learned in the classroom are practiced through hands-on exercises in the shop. Students learn side-by-side with others eager to enter the construction industry.

    SEMCA runs on an earn-while-you-learn model, meaning you work in your trade during the day and come to school at night. Help for career placement is available to students seeking employment in their field.

    SEMCA was created over 30 years ago with the purpose to recruit and train the best workers in the construction industry. Our goal is to expertly train skilled workers to decrease the skilled worker shortage.

Offered Training Programs

  • Electrical

    4 Year Program

    Students will learn to install wiring and other electrical components such as circuit breaker panels, switches and light fixtures. Our curriculum teaches apprentices how to read blueprints, the National Electric Code, state and local codes for residential, commercial and industrial sized projects.

    AVERAGE INCOME: $34.50/hour (upon training completion)

  • Carpentry

    1 Year Program

    Students will learn to construct, erect, install, and repair structures and fixtures made from wood and metal. Our curriculum covers layouts, the use of hand and power tools, roof framing, and floor systems.

    AVERAGE INCOME: $29.17/HOUR (upon training completion)

  • Welding

    1 Semester Program

    Students will learn to join objects together by applying heat or pressure. Our course covers knowledge of welding principles and different metals. Students will also go over the use of blueprints and drawings to build anything from ships to cars to bridges.

    AVERAGE INCOME: $33.20/HOUR (upon training completion)

  • Intro to Heavy Construction

    1 Semester Program

    Students will learn a variety of skills needed to work in the heavy construction industry including safety procedures, hand tools/heavy equipment identification, rigging and job site communications skills. Our curriculum teaches a basic understanding of construction drawings, various field techniques and proper use of personal protective equipment.

    AVERAGE INCOME: $23.40/hour (upon training completion).

  • Hands-On Training

    We place a strong emphasis on hands-on learning at SEMCA. We believe students should be given the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge in real time alongside the watchful eye of the instructor.
